Consolidated Short Position Report

It is a report published on a bi-monthly basis by stock exchanges. The report contains a summary of the consolidated short interest positions for exchange listed securities. It includes the total number of securities that were short (as on the trade date) and the net change from the previous report. The report is available on a paid basis to firms through secure FTP access.

Why is Consolidated Short Position Report important?

The consolidated short position report helps to:
a. Facilitate the distribution of short sale data to the media
b. Enable investors/traders for developing risk assessment tools
c. Check stock splits and other corporate actions if they occur before the stated settlement date for the reporting period
