A copyright is the legal right of a person or an organisation over intellectual property. It gives the owner the right to the original material and any subsequent use or reproduction of such property can only be possible after due permissions from the owner of the copyright. In India, the regulations and the framework for applying and using the copyright is as per The Copyright Act, 1957 and amendments hereunder. The owner of the copyright has the exclusive rights to use and manipulate the intellectual property at their discretion for a particular time frame till such copyright is awarded to them. After the termination of the copyright, the ownership of the copyright is back with the original creators or is available in the public domain as the case may be.
