Corpus

Updated on March 17, 2023

Corpus is the total money that all investors invest in a mutual fund scheme.

What does it mean for investors

Corpus can also mean the sum of money that an investor wants to gather or achieve after investing in a mutual fund by making lump-sum or SIP investment. Example – an investor may want to accumulate a corpus of Rs. 1 crore for retirement purposes. Therefore he/she may invest a certain amount in a mutual fund with an objective to achieve the corpus amount.

Why is it important?

By looking at a mutual fund corpus, we can know the size of the fund. Large sized funds have a larger corpus and generally a diverse portfolio, depending on the fund objective.
